Frequently asked questions
How do I make a character say something?
Go to the Voice tab, tap a character, then type your line (up to 100 characters) or tap the microphone button to dictate. Tap Generate and the character will say it. You can then add an extra effect, save it to Files, or share it.
Why does generating a voice fail?
Character voices are generated online, so you need an internet connection. Check that Wi-Fi or mobile data is on and that VoiceMagic is allowed to use mobile data in iOS Settings > Mobile Data. Longer lines can take a few seconds. If it still fails, try again later.
Do character voices work in other languages?
VoiceMagic is designed for English. Other languages may not sound right in the current version.
How do I change my own voice?
On the Voice tab, tap "Try now" on the Record & Change banner, tap to record (up to 30 seconds), then pick an effect such as Robot, Chipmunk, Monster, Alien, Echo, Helium, Giant or Underwater. This works offline and your recording stays on your device.
The microphone or dictation doesn't work.
VoiceMagic needs Microphone permission to record, and Speech Recognition permission to dictate. Open iOS Settings > VoiceMagic and turn them on. You can always type your text instead of dictating.
I can't hear any sound.
Turn up your device volume and check that it isn't connected to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones you aren't using. In Prank Sounds you can also raise the volume slider on the sound's screen.
How does the prank timer work?
Open any prank sound, choose a Sneak Timer delay (5, 10 or 30 seconds) and tap play. The sound will go off when the countdown ends, giving you time to hide your phone. Turn on Continuous Loop to keep it playing until you stop it.
Is the Lie Detector real?
No. The Lie Detector is a party game. The fingerprint scan is an animation and does not read your fingerprint, and results are random. Please don't use it to make real decisions.
Where are my creations saved?
Every voice you generate or recording you change is added to the Me tab automatically and stored only on your iPhone. You can play, share or delete it there. To keep a copy elsewhere, tap Save on the result screen to export it to the Files app.
Will I lose my creations if I delete the app?
Yes. Because creations are stored only on your device, deleting the app removes them. Export or share anything you want to keep first.
Do I need an account? Are there ads?
No account is needed and there are no ads. See our Privacy Policy for details on how your data is handled.
How can I request deletion of my data?
Your content never reaches our servers, so you can delete it yourself in the Me tab or by uninstalling the app. If you have emailed us and want that email deleted, just ask at [email protected].
